How do your Green Smoothie Programs work?

Well, you'll be invited, not obligated, to consume A LOT of green smoothies for 3, 10, or 24 days. We'll provide some interesting facts about Green Smoothies, scrumptious recipes, daily support, encouragement, and a cheerful presence to help get you through the process.

The 3-Day Green Smoothie Mini-Course - The best introduction for people who are new to raw food and green smoothies.  You'll discover what the fuss about the "lawn mower pulp" is all about and how to start making your own!  The goal of this program: to get you to try your own green smoothie creation and share it with others!

The 10-Day Green Smoothie Challenge - Building on the introduction to green smoothies, you'll learn about green savories, juicing, herbs, wild greens, and more.  This Challenge is packed with recipes, teleseminars, and good green fun!  The goal of this program: to get you to consume as many healthy detoxing greens as you comfortably can for 10 Days!

We'll also have some special *LIVE* challenges - those are special because loads of people get together all at once to share in the experience together.  And as always, you'll receive daily messages and updates on the challenge.

What's a "Blender Bender"?

We've looked around at a few definitions for the word "bender" and these are the ones we appreciate the most: "revelry in drinking," "a merry drinking party," "a drinking spree." This is a time during which we do want you to try bonding with your blender for one day or more and drink as many green smoothies as you can. When you sign up for The Green Smoothie Queen's 10-Day Challenge, you'll have an opportunity to have ONE full day of green smoothies.  Now that's a blender bender.

Do I have to eat ONLY Green Smoothies?

No, not at all. The idea is that you increase your consumption on a gradient that feels comfortable for you. If this is your first time, then you may just decide to replace one meal a day with a Green Smoothie.

Now, on the other hand, if these Green Smoothies are the miracle food they've been touted to be, then why not go for gold and try as much as you can? Try one meal, try two and maybe for your evening meal, you'll decide to make a big salad!!

What kind of food should I buy?

We'll provide you with suggestions for the most common fruits and greens to use in your smoothie.  That being said, people from all around the world take our programs, so some of the suggestions may not be available in some areas and/or seasons depending on when you take the program.  If that's the case, go to your local market and if it's green and leafy, then bring it home with you.  There is a WORLD of greens out there, all of them offering fantastic and unique nutritional benefits.  Don't limit yourself to just two or three.

What else will I need to get through a Green Smoothie Program?

Blendtec Total BlenderWell, you're actually going to need a decent blenderObviously, we have our favorite. I know that there are less expensive blenders on the market, but this Blendtec bad boy will handle anything you shove into its blades. Have you watched their "Will It Blend" series of videos on YouTube! They are fun to watch, and give you an idea of just how powerful this blender really is. If it can blend all of those crazy things, just think how smooth your smoothies will be!

So... you'll need a good blender. If you don't have a blender at all, and you're not in a position to invest for the Green Smoothie Queen's Machine, then go to your local hardware or kitchen store for a good, ice-crushing blender. It can't compare to a Blendtec, but it will still give a good result.  Aside from that, make sure you have a cutting board around and a decent set of knives and you're READY.

What if I have no experience with this kind of thing?

Perfect! That's actually what we want! Again, all of our programs are designed to be super approachable for ANYBODY! They're great for family members young and "getting younger again with green smoothies".

Will you provide recipes?

Yes, we typically provide suggestions for recipes, kitchen tips and all you need to get through a program. Don't worry! We've said we'll make this simple, and we will!

When do your programs start?

Our regular green smoothie programs start ANYTIME! Once you have registered, you'll start receiving all the information you'll need via e-mail, right away, so you can start whenever you'd like! Remember, when you sign up, you can challenge a friend to take this with you! We also have *LIVE* green smoothie programs which we host during specific times of the year.  You can click on the live event pages to see more details.

What's a *LIVE* Challenge?

A LIVE challenge is a program available ONLY during a specific time. During that time, we have special contests and special prizes, many sponsors, special guest interviews and MUCH more available to the participants. We have our popular 24-Day Countdown to Christmas, our lucky St. Patrick's Day Challenge, our spooky Halloween Challenge, and the possibility for many more throughout the year. Our biggest one is the International Green Smoothie Day Challenge, which happens around August 15th.

How much do your programs cost?

Our 3-Day Green Smoothie Mini-Course is FREE!! Our 10-Day Green Smoothie Challenge, which offers a lot of support, information and special treats, is $10!!! The cost for our LIVE challenges vary, as each is unique.

Where else can I get recipes?

The other place to get more recipes is from The Emerald Lounge. This is our keen and green smoothie community forum, and if you are willing to write a few words and show yourself, you'll make wonderful friends to help you along your journey.  Just sign up for any of our programs, including the FREE 3-Day Mini-Course, and you'll be given access to the appropriate sections of The Emerald Lounge.  Participants are encouraged to share and often post their green smoothie creations.

Can I make my own recipes?

Absolutely! Just remember to keep them as simple as you can; this really helps your stomach with digestion. Your recipes can be as simple as two or three ingredients. Just bananas and baby spinach makes one of the best tasting green puddings for some.

What if I get hungry soon after I've had a green smoothie?

You may find you feel "full" at first, but an hour later you are hungry again. If that's the case, just eat more regularly. It's not a problem. Everyone's process is very different. IF you've decided to do JUST green smoothies, then when you're hungry EAT!!! Yes ... I said EAT, because it is always best to CHEW your green smoothies for proper digestion. You might want to sprinkle a few sunflower seeds or some other seed on the top to remind you of this.

What should I know if this is my first time?

If this is your first time, and you've never done anything like this, remember that the quantities of food you'll be eating may FEEL like quite a lot. The truth is that raw food has a much higher fiber and water content than most foods. Initially it takes up more space, but overall it is much lower in quantity. You may not have that heavy feeling you're used to with meat based foods or cooked, vegetarian or vegan food, but your stomach will be full because of the quantity.

What else should I know?

When you do your shopping and blending, be sure to account for the consumption of kids, roommates, co-workers, etc., who will no doubt be wanting to get in on the action. For a few days of Green Smoothies you really, really can't go wrong by stocking up on lots of supplies (we have tips in our programs for what to do with extra greens and many fruits freeze well). One of the things that causes problems for people is simply not having enough of what they need.

The Queen's Suggestions:

  • Have an abundant quantity of any or all fruits and leafy greens!!
  • Find the shopping balance: Be sure to pack up your fridge so you don't have to make too many trips to the local farmer's market, but don't wait until your greens have wilted to eat them
  • Be creative and adventurous with your smoothies; try the recipes, and adjust them to your taste.
  • Make new friends in The Emerald Lounge, and stay connected in there as much as you can!
  • Get a Green Smoothie Jug; they make your smoothies look sexy! Can't get one of our Jugs yet, then you can always use old pasta sauce jars, canning jars or nut butter jars to store your smoothies, too! This is a great solution, just not as sexy.  ;-)
