The Green Smoothie Queen

gsq

I go by “Green Smoothie Queen” because it doesn’t really matter who I am.  Too many health gurus get up on a podium preaching themselves to be the source of the next best secret to health and longevity.  They say they’ve got it all figured out, but never admit to their own indigestion and foul body odor.

I do NOT want to be your next health guru.

I’m not here to tell you how much I know, how great I am, or how much I’ve accomplished.  I’ve seen a few too many people put their trust in white coats and credentials only to find themselves strapped to an I.V. wondering how it all happened.

happy faceI’m here to remind you about a few things you already knew and inspire you to get on a common sense path to healthier living.  When you feel like a million bucks after learning why adding more greens to your diet is beneficial for your health and you want to give someone credit for it all, just pat yourself on the back and sign up one of your friends.

The only person truly responsible for your health is YOU.  No matter what I say or how convincing I am, YOU are the one who will reach for a donut or a celery stick and put it in your mouth at the end of the day.  Let’s just eliminate the guru factor from this equation and make YOU your new guru.  And for sheer entertainment value and the pleasure of a good game, we’ll refer to me as, “The Green Smoothie Queen.”

Stacey discovered the raw food lifestyle and The Raw Divas in November, 2008. She enjoys the benefits to be found from both the lifestyle and connecting with other inspiring, like-minded individuals seeking to improve their life circumstances through nutrition and empowering support.

Since trying the raw lifestyle in the BES program, she successfully transitioned to a vegetarian path in 2009, a vegan path in 2010, and she continues to enjoy incorporating more raw food, especially green smoothies, her all-time, hands-down favourite new food. Having made a variety of lifestyle changes that helped her release 75 lbs in 2009, Stacey welcomes the opportunity to introduce others to the benefits of glorious greens.

As a new member of the Green Smoothie Queen team in December of 2009, she is enthusiastically sharing her writing and editing talents to spread the message of yummy greens out to the wide, wonderful world so that everyone can experience the opportunity to enjoy better health that she has discovered.

Keely Bush ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) – The Emerald Lounge Empress, Program Co-ordinator

Keely is a domestic goddess, artist and wife to "The Diva Dude", Bob. She also likes to cruise the web (a bit too much) in search of new raw recipes, inspiration for her own raw experiments, and tips from her fellow bloggers!

Keely first joined in on all the raw fun when she took her first 7-Day Diva Detox back in July of 2007. Although she had heard about the raw food movement years before, and along with Bob, had even had some training in raw food prep, it wasn't until the detox that things really clicked for her.

Now you can find Keely helping in our online community forum, The Emerald Lounge, and sprinkling Kiwi Kisses here and there to keep things flowing! You'll also hear her on just about every teleseminar we do, backing up the team and making it all fall in place. You can get in touch with Keely This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Courteous fellow that he is, Jimbo has kindly allowed the ladies to all go first, but you wouldn't be looking at this page without him.  Master of urban foraging and sunshine sprinkler, his real name is "Jimmy", but we call him just about every sweet word we can, because he's the php papa around here!

You'll also find his inspirational poetry on the Diva blog as "Moon Man" on occasion. Jimmy is often busy doing what it takes to make Google our best friend and keeping The Green Team up to snuff on all things "Web".  He's also our go-to guy if you notice blunders, boo boos, or blips on our pages!

While we do not share him with just anyone, you can find him here soaking up moonbeams: www.jimbolinasunshine.com

BONUS RECIPE

Green It Like You Mean it Pudding

By Tera Warner – Raw Diva Extraordinaire

(Blendtec blender most definitely required.)

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 ripe bananas
  • 1 bush head of flat-leaf Italian parsley
  • 2 1/2 - 3 small bunches of baby spinach (when packed into the blender, this is about a 1:2 ratio of banana to greens)
  • 2 Tablespoons chia seeds
  • A splash of liquid to get the gears turning

Directions:

Use whatever brute force or blunt objects you safely can to jam, jar, and pulverize the greens into the bananas as they purée on the bottom of the container.  Just mix that stuff together.  If you've got a Blendtec, now's your chance to show her off! This is a 3-horse power pudding unlike any other.

Once it's smoooth like a baby's bottom, stick it in a glass bowl or fancy pudding cups and leave it in the fridge.  It becomes the thickest, dreamiest pudding you've ever had.

Note: My son once begged for me to let him take this to school. Knowing the teasing that can come in a classroom of 6-year olds, I suggested he tell them it was alien poop and to make whatever facial contortions were necessary to disgust and shock his fellow class mates as he gobbled every slimy bite! Worked like a charm! The thermos came home completely empty and mama had a certain green glow in her heart.
