Read what people are saying about the Queen's Green Smoothie Programs!

Dear Green Smoothie Queen,

Thank you for pestering me! Your emails are stupendously motivating and may the whole world be infected with your enthusiasm for green smoothies!

Here is some feedback.

I used your program to 'challenge' fruit after two months of no sugar. I had a bad breakout of candida after a lot of stress at work and too many died fruit and nut snacks. Stress for me = binging on nuts :(

So I did my stomach in. I had all the confidence after living on a green smoothie every morning and beautiful fresh raw food for lunch and dinner that now would be the time to start introducing fruit into my diet, but it seems to have been too soon!

On day one I had a smoothy with a banana and I did not get a very nice reaction from below. To be fair, I have been a bit of a stress-bunny at work, so I am not really blaming the sugar. But I backed off the new smoothies i was going to try on the three day challenge and just continued with my usual routine of green.

I have converted my dear mother to the way of the green smoothie, however ; ) Give me a pat on the back! She has now overcome constipation, a condition she has had for years and years and tried every remedy under the sun!

Keep inspiring,

Hi Lovely Lady,

I have been on a 100% raw food diet for 3 weeks now. I just finished your 3 day green smoothie challenge. I had purchased Green for Life some time ago and was already drinking a morning green smoothie everyday for breakfast. However, after finding your website I was inspired to take it a step farther. I loved doing the 3 day green smoothie challenge.

With this challenge I have had some obvious detox. Some consider detox a problem, I welcome it! Detoxing means I am getting the junk out and putting the good stuff in! I have had more energy, more stamina (I run a mile every other day with my hubs) and just a better outlook on life. My husband told me that he has even noticed that my moods have completely changed and I rarely have my past frequent mood swings. This comment happened during my normal PMS time. Before and during this cycle I have had little PMS symptoms and fewer cravings and no intense mood swings, which were a normal for me!

I am losing weight, which is a huge benefit for me. Two and a half weeks ago (before raw) I weighed 168.5. This morning I weighed 157 lbs!!!! This is wonderful and I am so excited to see the longer term effects of green smoothies and raw diet!

My skin is brighter and I look healthier on the outside. I don't look tired and worn down all the time anymore. I sleep like a baby every night!

I am so thankful for the support that is found with your website and forum! It is great being connected to others! I live in an area that a raw food diet is looked at as just plain weird. So, I can't express my appreciation for the continued support!

Keep up the amazing work that you are doing! We can all help you change the world one green smoothie at a time! :-) It's a group effort and a highly needed effort. Our society is paying a deep and painful price for the terrible diet we have allowed to take over! I will continue to work with you to show others how they can change one step at a time!

Raw hugs and green smooches,
Kari

Just wanted to send a quick thank you for the 3 day challenge and also the detox. I'm doing everything at once with my whole family (modified for the little kids, of course) and we're all loving it. My 7 month old just finished eating her green smoothie mixed with organic baby oatmeal to thicken it up and she downed 3/4 of a cup! My 2 year old is sucking back his second cup as I type this and my husband powered his back before his workout. I'm leisurely drinking mine over the course of the afternoon to keep me from snacking on other less healthy choices. Here's the recipe for what we're drinking right now...one of our new favourites. I made it up just according to what was in our fridge needing to be used up. It's huge, so we blended it in bits and combined it in a big jug to keep in the fridge, but it would be easy to cut in half or quarters if you wanted less.

The Baker Blender

  • 4 nectarines, pitted
  • 4 plums, pitted
  • 4 kiwis, peeled
  • 2 peeled bananas, fresh or frozen
  • 2 cups blueberries
  • 1 huge handful of baby spinach
  • 1 long english cucumber
  • 4T ground flax seed

Blend and enjoy!

For our weekly playgroup this past week I decided to host a Family Friendly Green Smoothie Brunch. It was a huge with with mamas and kiddos alike! We made the above recipe and a few others from your sites and other sources and served them in large jugs. On the table we also offered fresh slices of everything that was in the smoothies. I wish I had remembered to take a picture - it was gorgeous! The kids drank from special big-kid stainless steel wine glasses and we mamas used martini glasses. The only thing that would have made it better was a better blender...hint hint!

Thanks again for everything!

OK, here are a few quick thoughts (I would love to write my own ode to green smoothies some day because they have helped me eat healthy and feel better) --

I think all of us that are being quiet are too busy with summer activities and then watching Olympics when we get home. :-)

I've been drinking green smoothies for the last several months, and when I traveled for work in March I realized the food I missed most was my green smoothies so I purchased a travel blender before traveling again in June. That was about the time I stumbled upon your website! By early summer I was drinking a green smoothie nearly every day and sometimes twice. Just about a month ago I decided to make a health commitment and purchased the Blendtec Total blender! Now I've been able to be sure to have my quart of green smoothie every weekday morning before rushing out to work because it's SO much more efficient. I truly feel energized and no longer even miss my morning coffee! Since then I've also been eating more and more raw foods and feel great, and my husband feels like he has his "Tami" back after over 2 years of suffering from Fibromyalgia symptoms! (That is the short version of course)

This morning I started the day with over a quart of green smoothie: 2 bananas, chard, and lots of blueberries. I blended it with 2 large chard leaves first and gave some to the kids and then added another banana and 3 more chard leaves. Yumm! I had an early lunch of a salad with a wonderful green dressing, and then rushed off to our county fair for the afternoon. Besides water I did have a smoothie at the fair, you know the kind that come out of box even though they say it is made of all real food -- no so yumm. Back at home I grazed on some veggies from our most recent CSA box and then made another quart of smoothie and didn't tell my family how yummy it was until it was all gone! :-) -- it was several apricots (5 or 6 ... I didn't count but used all we had), a bunch of kale, a banana and some ice, and then a handful of frozen blackberries. Thick and so refreshing!!!! Since I was in a hurry to watch more Olympics I neglected to take a picture before drinking it either!

I was hoping to take pictures and make a great blog post on Friday the 15th, but instead it was a busy day with a local festival we're involved with and then again watching the Olympics with a green smoothie to sip on. I experimented with watermelon, ginger, lime and romaine early that day, and stuck with my white nectarines and spinach (an old standby now) in the evening. And again no pictures ...

My goal tomorrow is pictures AND some fun creations from your ebook that my 3 year old, the ultimate picky eater, will not be able to resist! But now I have to put a sleepy 3-year-old to bed and watch some more Olympics.

Thank you for helping me Wake Up and Smell the Green Smoothie! :-)

Dear Green Smoothie Queen,

Thanks for the excellent 3-day green smoothie challenge! Those of us raised on the standard American diet can especially benefit. My husband Zach takes a quart of green smoothie to work most every day (his co-workers think he's nuts, but ask to try some on occasion). Our little 8-month old Isaac loves green smoothies and will grunt until we share our smoothies with him.

Today we had a Rainbow Orchard smoothie:

  • 1 peach
  • 1 orange
  • 1 banana
  • 1/3 cup blueberries
  • 1 bunch of rainbow chard
  • 2 cups of water

Thanks again for the challenge,

Angie in Michigan

My first day was an adventure. I love greens, but haven't been able to tolerate them in smoothies in the past. For breakfast, I had a repeat of my first ever green smoothie: a bunch of Swiss chard, a banana, some water and a teeny bit of Stevia. Very green. Perhaps more fruit would help, but it was good.

For lunch I had the same (Swiss chard, banana, water, stevia) but I added half an apple. This was waaaay too sweet and still too "green". Soldier on!

Tonight's smoothie (still finishing it up now) is made up of Swiss Chard, 2 kiwis and half an apple. A little thick, but very tasty. And filling! Best one yet for sure.

Tomorrow I'm going to try a berry one. So far, so good! Oh, and I haven't had to eat anything BUT the smoothies because they are so filling, I'm not even hungry!! I've washed my vitamix and my smoothie is almost gone, but I promise I'll take a picture of my berry green smoothie tomorrow morning!

I would NEVER have even TRIED this without you! How cool.

Ellen,
a 'virgin' green smoothie gal

I did green smoothies all day yesterday and half of the day today. I ended up eating salad and a couple of other things and my plan is to do green smoothies again tomorrow. I usually have at least one a day all of the time. I am going to have at least two tomorrow. I appreciate this challenge to get me back on track again.

Hi Divas!!

Just wanted to give you ladies a wonderful update on my progress.

I've lost 2 lbs already!!! I really don't eat a lot, but I had 2 big smoothies yesterday and an avocado.

Today I made my 'Green Dream Supreme' with coconut water, strawberry, banana, orange, flax seed, broccoli and spinach. My 5 month old son Jai had his first green smoothie today and I think he likes it!

I feel so good I will extend my Green Smoothie Feast to at least 5 days instead of 3!!!

Thank you for creating such a blissful experience!

Just thought I'd let you know that I've been eating about 85-90% raw for the past few weeks and lost 7 pounds while doing it, but couldn't get past that certain weight that I was stuck at. While doing the Green Smoothie Challenge, I was able to get past that weight and lost 2 more pounds. While 2 pounds may not seem like much....remember that it was 2 pounds in only 2 days (not even the 3 days for the challenge) and it has boosted my self-esteem and I know that I can do even better! Thank you so much for this wonderful program! You are the best!!!

Hugs & Blessings,
Brenda

Hello from California!

I just wanted to drop a line or two. I am excited about GREEN SMOOTHIES! I have been practicing for a few days now, and I love it. I was a little intimidated at first, but it is getting easier. I'm actually having fun trying several combinations. I guess the biggest surprise is how much I like savory smoothies. I am feeling good and looking forward to more smoothie adventures!

Sending smiles,
~Kimber~

Hi Green Smoothie Queen,

Well, to start with, I'm very happy that I "accidently" found this site, right at the time you were organising this. For years I don't feel as good as I should, considering how hard I work on being fit and healthy. Also I don't seem to absorb the calcium which I eat (plantbased, of course) and that freaks me out as my mom had very serious osteoporosis and I'm diagnosed to be on my way to the same fate.

I tend to eat the same thing day in and day out, which is the reason I was doing the 7-day detox when this came up. To force myself to get another routine. So this was exactly at the right time.

I used to be on the site of a fruitarian and he's perfectly happy and in a fantastic condition just eating watermelon and grapes all summer, or oranges for months. I tried that for a month and found out that I do need my greens. So I started to eat salads, lots of them, but with salt, avocado, olive oil and grounded sesameseeds and I still didn't feel good enough. Then I read 80/10/10 and realised I was eating too much fat. Ever since I have been struggling: How can I eat enough greens, without eating too much fat and salt. Sometimes I would eat a green smoothie, usually with spinach (there is no baby spinach here) and parsley, but I didn't like it. From what I read in your book those vegetables are not the greatest choice for somebody who wants too absorb more calcium, either.

These 4 days, first of all I try to get as much info as I can. I experiment with all kind of vegetables. A pity we can get kale here only during the winter. Bananas and greens are always good. What I try to do is get at least about 10 smoothies with different ingredients, so I won't have the same ingredient twice in 5 days, even during the winter when you can't get nectarines, berries, mango, melon, etc. That would be a huge help. As I built an intolerance/allergy for food that I eat often pretty quickly, I have to rotate. The interview with dr T. made me realise that I also have to rotate when I eat 100% raw.

During the 7-day detox and the Green Challenge I noticed that I need to rest more than usual, so I sleep early and take a nap if neceesary. Trainingwise I'm also not doing great. My heart rate is about 8 beats higher in rest than normal and it feels like I've got mud in my legs. Yesterday I couldn't face doing interval, so I ran 45 min at an easy pace and walked about 100 yards whenever I felt like (about every 5 minutes, sighh...) Weight training is acceptable. Maybe I'm detoxing a bit, but it's not too bad. No splitting headache, no moodswings, not a terrible temper. Probably my body is just working very hard repairing and adjusting.

Thanks for this opportunity, Tera,
Margot, aka Rozemarijn

Hi.....we are all having a fun time with the Green Smoothie Challenge. I say we....because my husband and I gathered about 20 people together and we are all doing the Challenge at different levels for 2 weeks. We have people from 16 years of age to 89 years of age giving it a go. It will be fun when we all finish our 2 week mark to hear all their results. Thanks for the inspiration.

My husband has become our "Smoothie-Meister" and comes up with some delightful concoctions. My favorite is: 1 Banana, 1 Orange, 1 Nectarine, 1 Tbsp. Hemp Seed, 1 Cup water blended together with 4 cups Kale. Sometimes he sneaks a Tablespoon of Agave nectar in there....but it is delicious with or without it.

Keep the inspiration coming....
Jan

Dear Keely and Tera,

I can't believe how amazing this Green Smoothie Day (or rather 4 days!!) celebration is. You Divas have out done yourselves... and with BES revving up too. Are you OK, Keely?

I'm celebrating Green Smoothie day today with friends and family. It's a raw fruit/greens pot luck!!! Each person will be bringing their favorite fruits, frozen and fresh, and their favorite greens or the greens they'd like to experiment with. My blender is nothing special but someone will be bringing a Vita Mix. And we're off to green heaven!!

The weather is celebrating along with us~ after weeks of rain (well, about 92% rain) it is stunningly gorgeous today. We'll drink our smoothies outside!!

I'll be thinking of you both. Hope it's beautiful up in Newfoundland, Tera. Keep breathing, Keely.

Love and hugs,
Julie

My kids and I have been enjoying our green smoothie time of the day. We all sit at the table and do cheers and talk about how great and healthy it is and we get really pumped up about it. My youngest son does not eat well at all. He eats absolutely no veggies and very little fruit.

He LOVES his green smoothie and asks for more, this is a miracle !

Good Morning!

I just returned from vacation and so waited to start my 3 day smoothie deal until today---and I even got my husband to agree to join me! So this morning we had kale, bananna, white nectarine, hemp seed smoothies---all local organic stuff:) I sent him off to work with 2 more drinks: watermelon, cuke, beet… and a green tea, bananna, nectarine, arugula smoothie. That's the report so far we'll see how it goes. My last 3 day challenge was actually really hard for me.

Now aren't you sorry you asked for a report!!!!

Thanks though for the support, I'm really needing it!

kale kisses back at ya!
Pamela

I'm loving the Green Smoothie challenge! I've been very intrigued by the raw foods movement...but haven't ever committed to go fully raw. But this green smoothie challenge was the perfect little introduction to how yummy and nutritious raw foods can be!

I've actually blogged a little about my green smoothie challenge if you want to check it out here: http://kareah.blogspot.com

My kids (Chloe - age 5 & Corban - age 2) are even jumping on the green smoothie band-wagon! Every morning we whip up a smoothie and they get to pick all the fruit they want to include. Mostly it ends up being cucumber (my choice), strawberries, peaches, pineapple, grapes etc.! And then we whip it smooth and add in lots of ice and a big handful of fresh spinach leaves and blend it again. It gets nice and green! They just love working in the kitchen and making all that noise with the blender each morning! I usually put their smoothies in the reusable "kid cups" you get from restaurants so they can have a lid and a straw in the car. (It also serves to distract them from seeing such a green color! The smoothies taste fruity...but look a little too much like a veggie for my normally picky eaters!) But they slurp it up and usually ask for more! I just can't tell you how thankful I am to you for empowering me to give my kids such nutritious greens each and every day without the stress of trying to convince them that it's good for them!

Thanks again,
Kareah Wakeland

This 3-day Green Smoothie Challenge was just what I needed to lead into this summer's Body Enlightenment System. Green smoothies do an amazing job at keeping the cravings away, so this challenge was particularly important, as it kept me from splurging on unhealthy treats as a last hurrah before the BES. I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I *planned* to have a bit of a last hurrah the last couple of days before the BES began, but once I started drinking those green smoothies, I lost all desire for my hurrah. I wasn't even tempted! As a bonus, during the 3-days of the challenge, my breastmilk production was increased (very important to me as a breastfeeding mom!), my fibromyalgia pain has lessened a bit, and I've released 6 pounds back into the wild. I'm feeling great and ready for the BES!

Shayla
